Belt okay for now

This one fucking hurt
The Giants live and die by their starters and their bullpen. Tonight was going to be another classic torture-style win, but we couldn’t hold on to it. This is a tough one to swallow cause Romo coughed up the lead he started with and we’re not used to seeing that. It was classic in the sense that we got the key starting pitching we needed, albeit not perfect as Vogelsong threw way too...

You've got to be kidding me
Tejada can’t turn two on a simple grounder to third and Carpenter moves over to second. Next up, Burrell lets a single roll UNDER his glove and a pitcher scores from second. Panda cannot get healthy fast enough. And Burrell and Tejada cannot go away fast enough.  Next half inning: Belt SLAPS a ball silly into right field. That was pretty.  Crawford followed that up with a nice line drive...

Sparky →
This article describes the waning days of Sparky Anderson’s life and his post-humus rites, or lack thereof. It’s wonderfully well written and definitely worth a read. (Written by Steven Henson)

Rowand pulled
Rowand was subbed out of the game in STL today because of a right hip contusion according to CSN. To be honest, all the better to get some more consistent plate appearances for Belt. I don’t know how he was going to split time with Huff and then Burrell and Rowand in left, but now at least he’d only be spelling Burrell some. Interesting move today, though turning to Nate, but...

WWPD (What would Panda do?)
The Giants need Sandoval in the lineup badly. The guy taking his place has to qualify for the worst move in the offseason. Miguel Tejada is hitting .212 with an on-base percentage of .237. He’s got 15 RBIs but only one homerun. Sandoval has just a third of Tejada’s at-bats due to injury, but he’s got 13 RBIs and 5 jacks. I think it’s time to say bye-bye to the 37-year-old...

Update on the Busted one
The date is officially 4 A.B. (After Buster). He had surgery today to insert two screws in his ankle. According to head athletic trainer, Dave Groeschner, he is officially out for the season. However, the prognosis is very good. He expects a full recovery and hopefully for him to be prepared for opening day 2012. In 8 to 12 weeks, he is going to go under the knife again to have the screws...

You can’t consider Matt Cain a hard-luck loser when he gives up six earned on 11 hits.

This should be commonly taught →
“As the ball came closer, he shuffled quickly to his left. He watched the ball, picked up where the runner was and registered the angle of the throw. In one motion, with Headley bearing down, Rodriguez slid to the left, scooped the ball an inch from the ground, stuck out his knee to block Headley’s hand and made the tag. Out. Rodriguez spun away, pumping his first.” (Adam Kilgore,...

Sanchez has 1000.
Freddy smacks a single up the middle for his 1000th career hit. He’s got 14 hits in his last seven games. He’s really starting to heat up a bit. Let’s see if he can’t keep this going.

Fear the Other Beard (more of a pornstache)
Why the fuck do we have such a tendency to pull the best reliever in our bullpen (I’d argue one of the best non-closers in the Majors), not named Wilson out so fucking quickly? Romo’s got a 1.88 ERA and he’ll throw 5 to 10 pitches an inning and get a strike out or two. Then, Bochy pulls him even if the pitcher’s spot isn’t due up. Seriously, the last two times this...

Life 2 A.B. (After Buster)
I guess people don’t understand how this works. The MLBPA has 2 free agent catchers available. One is Bengie Molina. The other is a career AAA-MLB ‘tweener. If other teams realize we’re desperate the asking price for something even as pointless as Ivan Rodriguez, (whose got an OBP of about .200) is going to be through the roof. And according to Sabean he hasn’t reached out, other teams have...

There's a right way to make it.
I’ve tried this recipe and it turns out wonderfully. And use lamb. Ground beef turns this into a cottage pie.  http://gordonramsaysrecipes.com/03/shepherd-pie/
